Cycling

With the recent emphasis upon health and fitness that has been present in the mainstream media in recent years coupled with the large amount of environmental concern that is also popular at the moment then it is little wonder that the government has been working hard to encourage people to cycle rather than drive. Cycling to work everyday instead of driving has a variety of positive implications. Not only will it ultimately save you a great deal of money by reducing your fuel bill and help to improve your fitness, but it will also have a positive effect on lowering the amount of harmful emissions being produced.  If enough people opted to cycle, rather than drive to their places of work everyday then carbon emissions would be significantly lowered, as would congestion and the time it takes to commute.

Because there are so many benefits to cycling as opposed to driving it seems unreasonable that more people do not choose to ride their bikes. However, some people may be under the impression that it is not safe to cycle on roads. This is not the case, as there many cycle paths provided for the convenience of people riding bicycles, particularly on busy main roads that would prove hazardous to cyclists if it were not for the designated cycle paths.

So, if you’re looking to save yourself time, money, improve your fitness and lower your carbon footprint then cycling to work could be a viable alternative to driving for you.
